TBR – The Chalk Man

The Chalk Man by CJ Tudor is a book I previously purchased and I am excited to read it.

The Chalk Man is a thriller that follows ‘Eddie’ as he relives his childhood after receiving a drawing of a chalk stick man. It takes him back 30 years to when a game he was playing went horribly wrong.

This book was originally published in January 2018 and had received many positive reviews. It has plenty of twists and turns and the use of flashbacks to help explain the events of previous years. It has a complex and intriguing storyline however although it has good reviews there is also some bad reviews. It’s rare to not receive any and they mainly said that some parts are a little unrealistic.

Saying this however I am excited to see what my opinion of this book will be and get to create my own views of the story.

What I am Currently Reading

img_20180816_1444533706953870625586748.jpg

I am currently reading Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. I have been wanting to read this book for a while now but the recent release of the film adaptation really made me go out and buy it. It had been recommended to me a lot as it is a crime book however it is written in a great way. The story is a great mystery. How did this crime happen and who did it?

I have read about half of the book so far and I really like it. The format of the book really helps to keep you intrigued as it is split into sections of the investigation. Chapters based off of how they are completing the investigation. Each interview is given its own time to be said and explored. The idea of the crime is also so very exciting. It seems like an impossible crime and being able to read on the find out all the clues and discoveries is very exciting.

It is a very intricate storyline with the ‘impossible’ crime having to be explained and figured out. I am surprised the book is as small as it is due to this and how they managed to fit this investigation into that amount of pages.

I am really excited to finish reading this book, I would say more than usual as it is a story I have become invested into. I am looking forward to exploring who commited the crime and how they did it.

I know this is a short blog post but I Just wanted to share what I am reading currently and how I would recommend to anyone who haven’t read it to do so. It is a great book and I have heard great things for the rest of the book.

Many thanks, Caitlin x

A Novel Companion

I recently purchased a new notebook/organiser off of Etsy and I really love it.

It is a book created and sold by a shop named LittleInklingsDesign on Etsy and it is a ‘book lovers guide to creativity and organisation’.

It allows me to organise all my book related issues such as my book reviews, to be read lists, wishlists, hauls alongside must see movies and TV shows. I think this book is aesthetically pleasing and we’ll designed. Each segment is beautifully layed out and is easily understood. It is all helpful yet beautifully styled. It is great quality and very helpful.

My favourite part of this book is the book reviews section as it allows me to note down my thoughts and allow me to write my blog posts. It also allows me to give the books a 5 star rating and the date I read the book.

I also really like the section ‘book series tracker’ which allows me to keep track of series I have started to read, have read or still to start. It keeps me up to date with my series and allows me to see exactly what I have read.

There is also beautiful quote pages through out eh book to enjoy as you continue to use this book and fill it in.

Overall, I would recommend this notebooks to everyone as it is ‘a booklovers handbook’ and is extremely helpful. I will leave the link to the Etsy shop below.
